It was an uncanny and uncomfortable feeling to go through Dewford Town, even when she'd only heard the most nebulous and austere descriptions of how Regice had reduced the town to a frozen wasteland only a few months ago. The inhabitants had rebuilt, though, and the rift within Granite Cave loomed as large as ever, retaining its extraplanar link to the innards of a god.

And this, too, was even more unsettling to Aurelie. To go into the belly of not just any god or Legendary, but Eternatus itself. In the dream of Galar-that-never-was, it had been one of Calyrex's direst enemies, along with Necrozma.

Here, more than the two other worlds she'd visited via the primal rifts, Aurelie wondered and feared the possibilities of being trapped here forever. Or of being noticed and discovered, somehow. Here, more than anywhere else, she dimly grasped the sheer scale of gods and how extraordinary they truly were.

The redhead stole a sidelong glance at her two companions within the Ultra Deep Sea, wondering if the same thoughts ran through their minds. But Dr. Sato and her assistant Rhys—whom Aurelie somewhat remembered meeting in the Great Chasm—were scientists. Maybe they were thinking about dissections and microscopes, or warping the fabric of reality, or whatever.

Cautiously, she cleared her throat. "So, I guess before you two can conduct your experiments, we need to clear out a proper place for a base, right? Or research station, or whatever it is you need."

Aurelie looked around at the narrow grotto in which they found themselves, slightly sheltered from the moods and vicissitudes of the alien cave-like world. "This seems like a good starting point for one. But it could use more space..."

Releasing her Tinkaton, she nodded to the small metalworker Pokemon. Obligingly, the Tinkaton began using GIGATON HAMMER to start carving out the walls of the grotto and enlarging it. Hopefully, soon there would be enough space for Nomi and Rhys to set up their research equipment and establish some kind of base within the body of Eternatus itself.

"Research station," Nomi repeated, stepping carefully over a jagged piece of rogue ice. "We need to gather samples of the various anomalies here." Tera Crystals, shards of divine frost, and other irregularities - such as relics from different dimensions. Nomi was quite keen on finding some of those, whatever they might be.[break][break]
Though Kallistatus hovered beside her, ever dutiful, Nomi reached for a Pokeball in her supply pack. Aurelie's Tinkaton would need help carving out a suitable space for their work; it would go faster if they all chipped in. Her Unown were powerful creatures, especially as a collective, but they weren't exactly the ideal candidates for terraforming.[break][break]
Hellebore appeared with a grunt. Nomi pointed at the Tinkaton.[break][break]
"Can you help us out, please?"[break][break]
The Heatran snorted, then immediately launched himself at the nearest boulder with an IRON HEAD.

Although he hadn't ever expected to be able to say it, traversing into a quasi-alternate dimension fashioned from the innards of a staggeringly unfathomable being was somehow not the strangest thing he'd dome at this point in his life.

Of course he had been relegated to pack mule, but any chance to stretch his legs and hopefully edge just a little further into his superiors' good graces was one he'd jump at. As such, he'd joined the two women on a survey and reconnaissance mission with swift, if not eager, accord. Laden with totes containing the various materials they might or might not need in the establishment of their temporary research station, he trudged along at the rear of the trio, glancing about with mild curiosity and trying to ignore the faint sense of...something wrong in the air.

Coming to a halt behind his companions, he took the opportunity to let his totes slump to the ground, shaking his arms out and rolling his shoulders experimentally. "Oh, uh, yes," he amended as the women began excavating further space for the station. He fumbled at his satchel, eventually releasing his Tyrantrum, who regarded him with a scowl.

Rhys mirrored the expression as he stared Kelso down, pointing at the slowly increasing pile of rubble. "Help clear some room, don't be a layabout," Rhys grumbled with little vitriol. The Tyrantrum snorted but assented, turning to seize the larger chunks of rock with ANCIENT POWER and relocating them safely to the opposite end of the enclosure, out of the team's way.

As Naomi Sato's Heatran dug deep into the rocky—yet somehow unpleasantly organic—ground, a vile spurt of purplish poison shot upward, showing that they had struck...well, probably not gold, but some sort of discovery, anyway. The poison pooled along the ground, the same color as the poison oozing down the cavern walls. Aurelie couldn't help gagging in disgust.

"Arceus, that's the grossest thing ever!" she grumbled, making a face. "Why couldn't Rocket decide to expand further into someplace less...squelchy, like the Mechanical Kingdom? I'd much prefer robots and gears to this."

Holding her nose, she bent forward to look at the fluid-coated finds that the Heatran and Tyrantrum had unearthed and uncovered. Her eye widened. "Ooh, look at that pot thingy! Or is it an urn?"

She pursed her lips in thought and peered closer, reaching forward instinctively to brush fluid off before hastily pulling her hand back just in time. "It kind of reminds me of the bowl that the Megalopolans used to make their mochi. Something about the metal it's made from and the little decorations on the side."

A shiver rippled through her as she remembered the different times she'd encountered Megalopolans and their mochi. Aurelie looked questioningly at both Nomi and Rhys, whose Tyrantrum was diligently clearing away rubble still.

"Do either of you know whether the Megalopolans ever came here, too? Or if they might even be here now?" The redhead grimaced at the thought, baring her teeth. It made sense that they might be here in this poison-riddled realm, probably swinging Toxic Chains around.

"Not going to lie, if I catch a glimpse of blue skin, I might start reaching for those explosives we brought and chucking one of them at them..." Despite her faint, crooked smile, her tone was low and somber, and her expression was grim as she darted a few paranoid glances back and forth.
